Key Responsibilities
As a Caregiver, your duties may include:
Daily Living Assistance
- Helping the client with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene
- Preparing light meals and snacks in accordance with the client’s dietary needs and preferences
- Assisting with mobility support, transfers, and safe movement within the home
- Supporting medication reminders as outlined in the care plan
Companionship & Emotional Support
- Providing meaningful companionship and engaging conversation to reduce isolation
- Offering emotional encouragement and a positive, uplifting presence during each visit
- Participating in light recreational or social activities suited to the client’s interests and abilities
- Building a trusting, respectful relationship with the client and their family
Safety & Home Environment
- Monitoring the client’s well-being and reporting any changes in condition to the family or care coordinator
- Ensuring the client’s living space remains clean, tidy, and hazard-free throughout each visit
- Following all established care plans and household guidelines with consistency and professionalism
- Responding calmly and appropriately to any non-emergency situations that may arise
Documentation & Care Plan Compliance
- Following the client’s individualized care plan precisely during every shift
- Communicating openly and professionally with the client’s family regarding daily observations
- Maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
- Reporting concerns related to safety, health, or well-being promptly and clearly
Skills & Qualifications
To qualify, you should have:
- A physical copy of your high school diploma or equivalent academic credential
- Valid government-issued ID documents including birth certificate, Social Security card, and a current driver’s license
- The ability to pass a background check and drug screening prior to employment
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building trust with clients and families
- The ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and cooperatively as part of a care team
- A genuine compassionate and patient nature with a commitment to delivering respectful, client-centered care
Work Environment
This role involves:
- Working inside a private residential home in a quiet, suburban Tennessee neighborhood
- Providing care during focused 4-hour shifts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and evenings
