Key Responsibilities
As a Truck Owner Operator, your duties may include:
Safe Vehicle Operation & DOT Compliance
- Safely operating a Class A commercial vehicle across assigned routes in full compliance with DOT regulations
- Conducting thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections before and after every haul
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date logbooks, ELD records, and Hours of Service (HOS) documentation
- Adhering to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and weight regulations throughout each trip
Freight Handling & On-Time Delivery
- Picking up, securing, and transporting freight safely and efficiently to designated destinations
- Ensuring all cargo is properly loaded, strapped, and secured before departure
- Delivering shipments on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of cargo integrity
- Handling all required delivery documentation, bills of lading, and proof of delivery accurately
Dispatch & Broker Communication
- Maintaining clear, timely, and professional communication with the company’s 24/7 dispatch team
- Coordinating directly with freight brokers regarding load details, pickup times, and delivery windows
- Reporting any delays, route changes, or mechanical issues to dispatch promptly
- Updating load status and location information as required throughout each haul
Safety & Company Policy Adherence
- Following all company safety procedures, policies, and operational guidelines without exception
- Representing the company professionally at shipper and receiver locations at all times
- Promptly reporting any accidents, incidents, or DOT inspection results to the company
- Maintaining a clean driving record and upholding a professional, courteous attitude on every run
Skills & Qualifications
To qualify, you should have:
- A valid CDL Class A commercial driver’s license in good standing
- A minimum of 1+ year of verified Class A driving experience with a proven safety record
- Ownership of your own truck and/or trailer suitable for commercial freight operations
- A clean and acceptable driving record with no major violations or disqualifying incidents
- A strong working knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS rules, and commercial vehicle safety standards
- A professional, reliable, and self-motivated attitude with the ability to manage your own schedule and responsibilities effectively
