Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Management Accountant, your duties may include:

Financial Records & Transaction Processing

  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records and processing all financial transactions within the company’s accounting system
  • Ensuring all financial documentation is organised, complete, and filed accurately in accordance with internal policies and compliance requirements
  • Supporting the Finance Controller with the smooth operation of day-to-day finance functions across the group

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Supporting accounts payable processes including invoice processing, vendor verification, and preparation of payment runs
  • Assisting with accounts receivable activities including customer invoicing, tracking incoming payments, and following up on overdue accounts
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors to resolve invoice and payment queries in a timely manner

Reconciliations & Payroll

  • Completing regular account reconciliations including bank reconciliations and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Assisting with payroll processing and related administrative tasks to ensure accurate and timely employee payments
  • Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies in coordination with the Finance Controller

Month-End & Reporting

  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial close activities including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Assisting in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholder review
  • Contributing to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities as directed by the Finance Controller

Compliance & Administration

  • Assisting with compliance-related documentation including Business Activity Statements (BAS), payroll tax obligations, income tax support, and audit requests
  • Providing timely financial and administrative support to internal stakeholders across the business
  • Maintaining a proactive approach to process improvement and financial record accuracy throughout the year

Skills & Qualifications

To qualify, you should have:

  • A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (mandatory requirement)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a finance or accounting role with demonstrated exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
  • Sound understanding of accrual accounting principles and monthly financial reporting processes
  • Familiarity with BAS preparation, payroll tax obligations, and income tax support processes within an Australian business context
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, and Outlook — advanced Excel skills are highly regarded
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Business Central or a similar ERP accounting platform is highly desirable

This role involves:

  • A hybrid working arrangement based in Sydney, NSW — with up to 2 days per week working from home and the remainder on-site at the Sydney office

  • Close day-to-day collaboration with the Finance Controller and wider finance team across all reporting, compliance, and operational finance functions
  • Exposure to a broad range of accounting responsibilities spanning management reporting, payroll, compliance, and financial planning
  • Regular deadline-driven work cycles particularly around month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial close periods

Experience and Specialisation

Accounting & Finance Functions

  • Accrual accounting and monthly close processes
  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations across multiple accounts
  • Payroll processing and related compliance administration
  • BAS, payroll tax, and income tax support documentation

Reporting & Planning

  • Monthly, quarterly, and annual financial report preparation
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning support
  • Audit support and compliance documentation management

Systems & Technology

  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central (highly desirable)
  • Microsoft Office Suite — Excel, Word, and Outlook (required)
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting or ERP platforms within a multi-entity environment is an advantage
