Key Responsibilities
As a General Farm Worker at Truly Green Farms and Cedarline Greenhouses, your duties may include:
Harvesting & Crop Production
- Hand harvesting tomatoes and other vegetables at the appropriate stage of ripeness, using careful technique to avoid bruising or damaging produce during the picking process
- Planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops within the greenhouse environment in accordance with established growing schedules and agronomic procedures
- Removing manually all suckers and water sprouts from tomato plants to promote healthy growth, maximize yield quality, and maintain optimal plant structure throughout the growing cycle
- Harvesting crops on schedule and in line with production targets, working efficiently as part of a large team to meet daily and weekly harvest volume requirements
Grading, Sorting & Quality Control
- Dividing freshly harvested produce into marketable and non-marketable lots based on established quality criteria and company grading standards
- Grading vegetables and fruits into appropriate categories according to size, shape, color, and volume to ensure premium market pricing and consistent product presentation for buyers and retailers
- Sorting fruits and vegetables accurately and efficiently on the packing line, using strong color differentiation ability and attention to detail to maintain high standards of produce quality
- Examining all products carefully for quality, ripeness, damage, and market readiness before packaging, ensuring only the best produce reaches the market
Packing & Post-Harvest Handling
- Packing fruits and vegetables into designated containers, trays, or boxes according to company packaging standards, customer specifications, and food safety requirements
- Handling packed produce with care during transfer, stacking, and storage to prevent bruising, damage, or quality deterioration after harvest
- Managing the movement of packed produce between the greenhouse, packing area, and storage or loading zones, lifting and carrying items weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs) safely and correctly
- Maintaining an organized, clean, and efficient packing workspace that supports smooth, high-volume production output throughout every shift
Greenhouse Maintenance & Disease Monitoring
- Performing regular and thorough greenhouse cleaning duties, including maintaining growing areas, walkways, irrigation systems, and equipment zones in a clean and organized condition
- Detecting and reporting signs of disease, pests, or health problems in crops promptly to supervisors, supporting the early intervention needed to protect plant health and production yield
- Operating and maintaining farm machinery and greenhouse equipment safely and in accordance with training and company procedures, reporting any mechanical concerns immediately
- Supporting general greenhouse maintenance tasks as directed by farm supervisors to ensure the growing environment remains clean, safe, and optimally productive at all times

- Strong color differentiation ability and manual dexterity, essential for grading produce by color, size, and shape accurately and efficiently on the harvest and packing line
- The ability to work independently and as part of a large team in a fast-paced, high-volume greenhouse farming environment with repetitive tasks and tight production deadlines
