Key Responsibilities

As a General Farm Labour worker at Emre Farms Inc, your duties may include:

Field Preparation & Crop Cultivation

  • Planting, cultivating, and irrigating crops in accordance with the farm’s established growing schedules, agronomic standards, and seasonal production requirements
  • Cutting agricultural seed according to farm standards and specifications, ensuring proper preparation of planting material for optimal germination and crop establishment
  • Supporting all aspects of field preparation and ongoing crop cultivation throughout the 5-month seasonal contract, adapting to changing priorities as the growing season progresses

Harvesting & Post-Harvest Handling

  • Harvesting crops manually and with appropriate farm equipment at the correct stage of maturity, working efficiently as part of a team to meet daily and weekly harvest volume targets
  • Loading, unloading, and transferring crates, supplies, and harvested farm produce safely and efficiently between field, storage, and processing areas throughout each working shift
  • Packing fruits and vegetables into designated containers, boxes, or trays according to company packaging standards, handling all produce with care to minimize bruising and post-harvest quality loss
  • Examining harvested products carefully for quality, ripeness, damage, and overall market readiness before packaging or transfer to ensure only premium produce reaches buyers and retailers

Grading, Sorting & Quality Inspection

  • Grading vegetables and fruits into appropriate categories based on size, shape, color, and volume to maximize market value and ensure consistent product quality for buyers
  • Applying strong color differentiation ability and careful attention to detail during the grading and sorting process to accurately separate produce into marketable and non-marketable lots
  • Supporting quality control procedures throughout the harvest and packing process, identifying and removing substandard or damaged produce before it enters the packing line
  • Working with speed and accuracy on repetitive grading and sorting tasks within a fast-paced farm production environment, consistently meeting tight daily deadlines

  • Gaining valuable hands-on experience with a range of farm equipment used across irrigation, cultivation, harvesting, and produce handling operations throughout the season
  • Reporting any equipment faults, mechanical concerns, or safety hazards to the farm supervisor promptly to prevent operational disruptions or workplace incidents
  • Assisting with basic farm equipment maintenance and care tasks as directed by farm management to keep all machinery in safe and reliable operating condition

Worksite Maintenance & General Duties

  • Supporting irrigation setup, maintenance, and monitoring tasks as part of the farm’s horticulture and crop production operations across the growing season
