Key Responsibilities

As a Building Maintenance Cleaner at Snowy Owl, your duties may include:

Floor Care & General Cleaning

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors across all common areas of assigned residential buildings to maintain a consistently clean and presentable standard
  • Dusting and wiping down surfaces including handrails, window ledges, light fixtures, baseboards, and other frequently touched areas throughout the building
  • Cleaning building lobbies, hallways, stairwells, elevator interiors and doors, and all shared common spaces to a high standard of cleanliness on a regular schedule
  • Following established cleaning schedules, checklists, and procedures to ensure all areas are covered thoroughly and consistently during every shift

Washroom Sanitation & Supply Management

  • Sanitizing all common washrooms and shared bathroom facilities thoroughly, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, floors, and all touch-point surfaces
  • Restocking washroom supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soap, and other consumables as needed during each cleaning visit
  • Monitoring supply inventory and reporting low stock levels to the supervisor or building management team in a timely manner
  • Ensuring washrooms meet health and hygiene standards at all times and are left in a clean, odor-free, and fully stocked condition after every service

Waste Management & Recycling

  • Collecting, sorting, and removing garbage and recycling from designated collection points throughout the building in accordance with the property’s waste management schedule
  • Transporting waste and recycling bags to the appropriate disposal areas, bins, or collection rooms within the building or on the property
  • Ensuring garbage chute rooms, recycling stations, and waste disposal areas are kept clean, tidy, and free of overflow or odor at all times
  • Following all municipal recycling and waste separation guidelines applicable to residential properties in Vancouver and Richmond, BC

Maintenance Reporting & Safety Compliance

  • Identifying and promptly reporting any maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or building issues observed during cleaning duties to the appropriate supervisor or property management contact
  • Following all workplace health and safety procedures, including the safe handling and storage of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and supplies in accordance with WHMIS and company guidelines
  • Using all cleaning equipment, machinery, and chemical products responsibly, safely, and in accordance with manufacturer instructions and company training
  • Maintaining a professional, respectful, and discreet presence within occupied residential buildings, being mindful of residents’ privacy and comfort at all times

Skills & Qualifications

To qualify, you should have:

  • Demonstrated experience with residential cleaning, including familiarity with the specific standards, procedures, and expectations of maintaining multi-unit residential buildings and common areas
  • Solid knowledge of cleaning equipment and supplies, including the safe and effective use of mops, vacuums, floor scrubbers, sanitizing agents, and other standard janitorial tools and chemical products
  • Strong customer service skills and a professional, courteous manner when interacting with building residents, property managers, and other building staff during cleaning visits

Work Environment

This role involves:

  • Working in person and on-site within occupied residential buildings across Vancouver and Richmond, BC, requiring a respectful, quiet, and professional presence at all times
  • Performing physically active cleaning work throughout each shift, including frequent walking, bending, lifting, pushing equipment, and moving between floors and common areas
